Ausreformers.Org is Born Again

aka The easily distracted, big mouth Aussie blokes Christian blog

Well 7 years after registering Ausreformers.Org I thought I would finally make use of it for something other than email and publish a website. Over the years I have had a few mates say, wheres the website? Well here it is guys. So I guess its not technically "born again", but who could resist that pun...

In my earlier years I had intended to launch an Aussie based website to help fellow Christians understand reformed theology, hence the name. Well, praise God I didn't, otherwise my ignorance would have shown! Nothing much has changed of course, however the only problem now is I'm kind of "over" the whole Calvinism debate. Reading James White & Dave Hunt's "Debating Calvinism" will do that for anyone, just in case someone is looking for a cure. No please don't read it, terrible book, but a good example of how absolutely ridiculous some of the theological exchanges can be, particularly with fundamentalists. (I am an ex-fundamentalist, in case you are wondering).

Fortunately for this website, reformed theology is not really about Calvin, its about the Gospel! The reformation was about coming to a proper understanding of the person and work of Christ and His offer of salvation by faith. The reformers asked important questions of the Bible, and the answers they received from Scripture transformed the religious and political landscapes at the time, in fact the whole course of history! With a little help from God no less. A proper understanding of grace and the work of Jesus changes people, it changes Christians and Churches. Grace liberates us from enslaving traditions and gives people the freedom to love and serve God.

So when did the reformation stop? What does the bible have to say today to our our ministries, our evangelism, our teaching? Does our preacher really need to resign and attend a good reformed seminary (Yes!). Seriously though, this website is the rebirth of my concern that we have much to learn about the Grace of God and applying the authority of Scripture to our lives and ministries.

And so, perhaps almost a decade later I might have a few things worth reading. If not, well least all the latest blogging tools available today make it a whole lot easier to waste time!

Semper Reformanda!
